ABOUT US

Tennis Association of Maldives (TAM) is an association that is registered under the law on clubs and associations of Maldives. The main objective of TAM is to promote and develop tennis in the Maldives. TAM has a total of 180 registered members and conducts year round training programmes and other development activities for juniors. TAM is a member of International Tennis Federation and the Asian Tennis Federation.

Establishment of the Tennis Association

The pioneers of the tennis industry started with their fascination with tennis culture and love of all things Fred Perry.

Recognised by ITF

Recognised under the international tennis federation making tennis an official organised sport in the developing country that is the Maldives.

Involvement in International Tournaments

After working hard to develop a cohort of tennis players under various age groups, the association finally managed to send a few promising players to play against international players in ITF recognised tournaments with the hopes to get local players to achieve rankings.

The Great Move to the new location

Due to various reasons the old tennis court in Chandhanee magu was taken over by the government which necessitated the move to the current location at Boduthakurufaanu Magu.

Establishment of Tennis Academies

In order to increase the popularity of Tennis in the country, private academies were created so that tennis can be offered to more people – especially adults.

Development of 4th Tennis Court and the start of hosting international tournaments

In order to increase the competitiveness of local tennis players in the country, tournaments had to be opened up for more international players and also to promote the country as a destination for international tournaments.
