The National Tennis Centre Reopens with limitations after the lock-down ends

After the lockdown has been lifted in Male’ City from 15th of June onwards, the tennis court has re-opened albeit in a limited manner.

The limitations include new rules such as social distancing, carrying National ID card at all times, only for players who have specific training timings provided in the temporary schedule are able to come to the tennis courts, and no access to the gym and the changing rooms at the moment.

All players look forward to the day, everything can go back to normal and the tennis court will be thriving again, although with social distancing means intact.

Rain or Shine, Court Construction works are going full-steam ahead

With a talented group of TAM members at the helm of the 4th tennis court construction and the resurfacing of the other courts project is going full-steam ahead. With the construction of this courtwhich will finally allow players to play have 4 courts to be used at the same time which is something that was missing since the move from the old National Tennis Centre location at Chandhanee Magu Male’.

In a short period of time the courts are coming along nicely so that all the courts and the tennis centre will be ready and primed for the Bank of Maldives National Tennis Championships 2019 which will commemorate 50 years of tennis in the Maldives at an organised capacity under the Tennis Association of Maldives.

Especially with the leadership of members such as Ibrahim Rasheed (Longey) and many others there is no doubt that the project will be done well and on time.

Hope all the tennis players and members are looking forwards to the new era of tennis in the Maldives.

A Water Dispenser has been added to the National Tennis Centre Facilities

After a long wait for a tennis dispenser since the old water fountain broke down, the TAM National Tennis Centre has finally acquired one.

This would be of great help to everyone using the facilities at the tennis centre, whereby at the moment the closest place to buy water for cheap would be a grocery store which is around a 10 minute walk away or buy more expensive water bottles from Marrybrown restaurant which is just adjacent to the tennis centre.

This also provides a much more sustainable solution than using bottled mineral water or using a mineral water dispenser. This dispenser provides filtered MWSE water with 3 options – room temperature, cold, or hot.

This is especially a boon for all the hard working coaches who usually stay at the tennis courts for long periods of time.
