				<div class="et_pb_text_inner"><p style="text-align: justify;">TAM has announced the 16 &amp; Under National Team tennis team participating in the Junior Davis Cup and Junior Fed Cup- pre-qualifying event that will be held from 22nd February – 1st March 2020 in Jakarta, Indonesia.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">3 boys and 3 girls are nominated based on the results of selection matches that was held in January 2020. The selection was played on a round-robin format amongst all players that submitted interest to participate in the selection.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The pre-qualifying round will be followed a Final qualifying round in Malaysia. The best two teams in the Junior Davis Cup pre-qualifying event will join the other 14 boys’/ girls’ teams to contest the Final qualifying round.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">From the competition&#8217;s inaugural year in 1985 when 44 nations took part in regional qualifying with the top 16 boys&#8217; and 16 girls&#8217; teams moving through to the Final in Kobe, Japan, the competition has gone from strength to strength. The number of participants has grown to around 100 nations each year.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The 2020 Junior Davis Cup and Junior Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Finals will be played in Lake Nona, USA. The event will be played on 16 clay courts and will be a joint operation between the International Tennis Federation and the host nation.</p></div>

				<div class="et_pb_text_inner"><p>TAM has announced the junior tennis team participating in the ITF 14 &amp; Under Development Championships- Regional Qualifying Event of South, South East and East Asia, which will be held from 13<sup>th</sup> -24<sup>th</sup> January 2020 in Manila, Philippines. Each week of the championships is equivalent to “Category 1, Asian 14&amp;under tournament” for awarding the Asian 14&amp;under ranking points to the players.</p>
<p>The Championships will incorporate a one-day training camp followed by two 5-day tournaments, all at the same venue. Players participating in the regional qualifying event of the ITF Asia 14&amp;Under Development Championships, which has been classed as a Category 1 of Asian 14&amp;under tournament, will be accorded Asian 14&amp;U ranking points, based on their performance during the championships.</p>
<p>Top two nations from each regional qualifying event (2020) will be promoted to the ITF Asia 14 &amp; U Development Championships – Final of the following year (2021), based on the final country ranking at the end of the championships.</p>
<p>Invited Nations: Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Bhutan, Brunei, Timor Leste, Maldives, Cambodia, Macau, Nepal, Lao, Mongolia, Pakistan, Myanmar</p>

<p>According to MOU signed in 2017 between Alibey Maldives and TAM, Alibey Maldives Pvt. Ltd. will assist TAM in its efforts to develop competitive junior players by financing an annual tennis training camp in its facility in Antalya Turkey.</p>
<p>The initial term of the MOU is three years for a period of 3 years</p>

<p>10th December 2017- TAM has announced the juniour tennis team participating in the ITF Asia 14 and under Development Championship- Division 2 which will be held from 7th -20th January 2018 in Ho Chi-minh, Vietnam. The ITF Division 2 is the equivalent of an Asian 14&amp;Under Category 2 event for which points for a Category 2 ATF 14 &amp; under circuit event will be awarded to players for their wins at the Championships.</p>
<p>Based on players’ performance at the ITF Asia 14 &amp; U Development Championships &#8211; Division 2, selected players will be invited to participate in an ITF Team at the ITF Asia 14 &amp; U Development Championships – Division 1 to be held in Jan / Feb 2018</p>
<p>The Maldives team comprises 3 boys and 3 girls namely,</p>
<p>Rayyan Yusuf Riza</p>
<p>Raudhak Maumoon</p>
<p>Mohamed Namiq Shahid</p>
<p>Sarah Ahmed Akram</p>
<p>Aishath Tara Naeem</p>
<p>Layan Mohamed Shamin</p>
<p>The team is coached by Ahmed Akram .</p>
<p>The country ranking will be calculated at the end of the event and will be based on the best 3 results in singles and the best 3 individual results in the doubles of both tournaments combined (only three results in total), to include at least one result from a male and a female in singles as well as one individual result from a female in doubles.</p>
<p>Two countries will be promoted and one country will be relegated between Division 1 and Division 2, based on the final country ranking at the end of the circuit – the countries with the highest two ranking positions in Division 2 will move up to Division 1 and the country with the lowest ranking in Division 1 will be relegated to Division 2 in the following year’s Championships in 2019.</p>

<p>Maldives boys and girls team performed well. Girls team lost to Bhutan in the play off for 5th position while boys played against Sri Lanka in play off stage.</p>

<p>India, Nepal (from Group 1) and Sri Lanka, Bangladesh (from Group 2), made it to the Semi Finals stage, which decides the qualifiers from the South Asian Regional Qualifying zone. In the Semi Finals stage, India was drawn out to play with Bangladesh while Sri Lanka faced Nepal. Indian and Sri Lankan Girls tamed the challenges of their opponents with an identical margin of 3-0 each, to qualify for the first ever ITF Asian Final Qualifying Event of the 12&amp; under.</p>
<p>Teams who have advanced to the finals to be held in Kazakhstan.</p>
<p>Girls:</p>
<p>Lebanon, Iran, India and Sri Lanka</p>
<p>Boys:</p>
<p>Qatar, Lebanon, Nepal and Bangladesh</p>

<p>In a small ceremony held in Baku, Abdulla Faaih Fazeel from tennis team was appointed as the flag bearer to the Maldivian contingent at the Games.</p>

<p>A total of 28 athletes and officials including delegates from the National Olympic Committee represent the Maldivian contingent at the Games that will be held from 12th- 22nd May 2017. Maldives will compete in 05 disciplines including athletics, swimming, tennis, table tennis, and shooting.</p>

<p><em><small>Maldivian Contingent</small></em></p>
<p>The 4th Islamic Solidarity Games is a multinational, multi-sport event which will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan from 12 to 22 May 2017. Previously the event has been held in Saudi Arabia in 2005 and Indonesia in 2013. The second event, originally scheduled to take place in October 2009 in Iran, was later re-scheduled but then cancelled. The Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) is responsible for the direction and control of the Islamic Solidarity Games.</p>
<p>Athletes from 57 Islamic countries around the world will be representing their nations over 10 days of competition across 20 different sports which include 24 disciplines Athletics and Para Athletics, Aquatics – Diving, Aquatics – Swimming, Aquatics – Water Polo, Basketball 3&#215;3, Football, Gymnastics – Artistic, Gymnastics – Rhythmic, Wushu, Table Tennis, Handball, Judo and Blind Judo, Wrestling – Greco, Wrestling – Freestyle, Shooting, Tennis, Volleyball, Boxing, Zurkhaneh, Karate, Taekwondo and Weightlifting in 16 state-of-the-art competition venues across Baku.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>18th April 2017- TAM has announced the juniour tennis team participating in the Regional Qualifying event of ITF Asian 12 &amp; Under Team Competition which will be held from 15th -19th May 2017 in Kathmandu,Nepal. The Maldives team comprises 3 boys and 3 girls namely,</p>

<p>Zoya Zubin Saleem</p>
<p>Layan Mohamed Shamin</p>
<p>Aminath Azka Naseer</p>
<p>The team is coached by Ahmed Akram .</p>
<p>In the first stage, the 12 &amp;Under Team Championships would incorporate regional qualifying competition for all the five regions in Asia, based on the already existing bifurcation of nations in the continent. Teams will play the first round of qualifying competition with in their respective regions, and the top performing teams from these qualifying competitions would secure their place in the finals of the 12&amp;Under Team Championships. The Finals of the ITF 12&amp;Under Team Championships will be held in Kazakhstan towards the end of the year.</p>
<p>Altogether 7 countries have been invited to take part in the South Asian qualfying event including India, Sri lanka, Parkistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives. Two countries from South Asian would qualify to participate in the Final event.</p>
